Advantages of Surface film finished paint foil
Manufacturers can laminate the Surface film as a primer to the paint foil. Then, paint foil laminated with Surface film is ready for rear injection molding. This eliminates various process steps necessary for the typical film insert molding (FIM) processes such as forming, cutting and trimming. With Surface finished paint foil, the production process is reduced to one step. Another benefit of this method is the reduction of rejection rates as well as the elimination of paint overspray. Surface finished metallic paint foils can even be used as a sustainable alternative to galvanization/chrome plating.

Advantages of Surface film as a primer for conventional painting
The Surface film can directly be inserted into a rear-injection molding tool. Surface finished PP and rPP parts eliminate the cleaning, pretreatment and the application of a liquid primer, steps that are typically required for PP injected parts. The benefit of this method is a 1-step produced PP or rPP part, ready for decoration. This leads to shorter cycle times, less rejection rates and lower waste. In addition, Surface film not only works as primer but also evens the surface of the injected part. Therefore, as a remarkable novelty, Surface film opens new opportunities to convert recycled and modified PP into parts with a decorated Class-A surface.
