Adhesive films for long-term use in composite applications

Thanks to thermoplastic multilayer adhesive films, different materials in ski construction adhere permanently. The use of Pontacol multilayer adhesive films between the different material layers of a ski and the Titanal (aluminum alloy) creates a reliable connection and drastically reduces the scrap rate in production. The viscoelastic adhesive film compensates for the thermal expansion of the different material layers. Further advantages of the Pontacol adhesive films in skis are time savings in the manufacturing process because there is no need to sand and clean the aluminum sheets, as well as the storage stability of the coated sheets for months.

Thanks to a new method, the adhesive concentration can be made so effective that higher strength can be achieved with half the amount of adhesive.
